Hi Reader,
Every nonprofit I work with has an AI meeting recorder running. Almost none of them can tell me who has access to the transcript folder.
I spoke at She Leads AI's Social Saturday last week on practical AI for fundraising, advocacy, and democracy, and I opened with meeting recorders. One transcript needs a policy and two transcripts are a database. Everything came back to the same question, what is the business use case? Curiosity does not count. A client asked me for the interview transcripts from her feasibility study, and I wanted to say yes. I said no. The no grew the relationship.
I love these tools and at Empowered Fundraiser I keep a list of places I will not put them. Living in both is conflict and it is hard. I would rather say that than pretend the line is clean.
Any group deciding what belongs in a database, and what stays a one-off, is answering the same question I was.
Warmly, Anne and Sheila, She Leads AI's Chief of Staff
P.S. Some people have made it their whole personality to beef about AI slop. And yah, but we're not sure that's a way to spend one's precious life energy. We took another route. We've been keeping receipts. This is the current list of words and phrases AI ruined (for now). Paste it into Claude or ChatGPT and lots of the tells go bye. β

ποΈ Social Saturday
Free for all women. Hosted by Beth Lyons and Jen Schwartz.
Learn and Build with Kimberly Inez Mays, Vikki Baptiste, and Erika Gianni
Saturday, September 5, 2026 | 10amβnoon PT | No cost for all women | Hosted by Beth Lyons and Jen Schwartz β Three practitioners will share what they've been working on β why this project, what she's learned along the way, what's next with it β in a conversational format. β βKimberly Inez Mays β Spicy Research Assistant. You have no shortage of content ideas. Deciding which ones deserve your audience is the harder part. Kimberly built one Claude Skill that makes editorial decisions against her standards and taste, with a Spicy Scout that finds timely angles, an Idea Prosecutor that challenges weak claims and stale thinking, and an Editor-in-Chief that decides what gets published. The template is yours to customize afterward. β βVikki Baptiste β The Translator, one box in, three audiences out. Paste in one piece of dense AI text, press one button, and get three versions back, from plain language down to the prompt underneath. No login, no database, one text box in and one AI call out. Vikki shares how she wrote it, and everyone takes home a copy. β βErika Gianni β Write the Playbook That Lives in Your Head. Erika took one process she ran from memory and turned it into a written playbook. She narrated it roughly, AI structured it, and she corrected what it got wrong. The correcting is where the decisions she never wrote down finally got stated. β What you'll come away with β’ Kimberly's Claude Skill template, ready to customize to your audience, niche, and editorial standards β’ A copy of The Translator to test against your dense AI text β’ Erika's playbook prompts and her review-date habit, to run on one process of yours β Social Saturday is the weekly gathering for human-centered AI practitioners β two hours every Saturday morning where women come together to learn with AI. From seasoned practitioners to the newly curious, we gather on Zoom to make sense of our collective AI journey.
β βGather With Us On Saturdaysβ β βSocial Saturday is made possible by the She Leads AI Society, our membership program for human-centered AI practitioners.

βBuild, Launch, Scale Lab - Workshop 6 Build a Visibility Practice That Lasts
For Members of the She Leads AI Societyβ β
ποΈ Wednesday, September 9 from 11:00am-12:30pm Pacific
Visibility isn't about being everywhere. It's about showing up consistently in the conversations that matter most.
In this workshop, participants will shift from thinking about "creating content" to building authentic relationships through meaningful conversations. They will identify the audiences they most want to reach, choose a visibility ecosystem that aligns with their goals and energy, and create a realistic 90-day Visibility Rhythm they can sustain.
Rather than chasing algorithms or trying to be everywhere at once, participants will learn how to build trust over time by contributing thoughtfully, showing up consistently, and sharing their authentic perspective.
By the end of the session, participants will have a sustainable visibility plan that reflects their values, supports their business goals, and feels achievable within the realities of their lives.
Learning Outcomes
Participants will be able to:
- Select one or two primary visibility channels that align with their goals, audience, and energy.
- Identify the conversations they want to contribute to rather than simply the content they want to create.
- Develop three to five content pillars rooted in their expertise, curiosity, and values.
- Create a realistic 90-day Visibility Rhythm.
- Use AI to support planning, repurposing, and refinement while maintaining their authentic voice.
Participants leave with:
- A 90-Day Visibility Rhythm
- A Visibility Ecosystem Map
- Three to five content pillars
- An AI-supported content planning workflow
- A sustainable approach to showing up consistently without burnout
The Build, Launch, Scale Lab is a benefit of membership in She Leads AI. We recommend the full arc β the workshops build on one another. And the curriculum is built to be joined as your time allows, with every replay and resource waiting in the learning management system.

π’ She Leads AI Society Members Making an Impact
Danielle LaFleur is the founder and CEO of Easy As Pie Design, the Bothell, Washington firm she has run for more than two decades. She came up through network engineering and IT training, building networks for small businesses and writing client training curriculum for Microsoft and Adobe products before turning that background toward marketing. Her description of her own work has held steady across 30 years β helping small and mid-sized businesses "maximize extra revenue streams," plus a process she built for extracting an ROI from an ROE in training and development, now in use across more than 100 corporations. She holds a degree in marketing, technology and innovation management from the University of Washington's Foster School of Business. She teaches inbound marketing with the customer as the hero rather than the company, and on AI she is direct with marketers that they do not need to worry about it taking their jobs.
Marian Newsome is the founder of Ethical Tech Matters and works as a fractional AI governance officer out of the DallasβFort Worth area. She spent more than 18 years at Dell Technologies in enterprise security, including critical infrastructure protection and SCADA systems, and she is among the first 100 globally endorsed IEEE CertifAIEd Lead Assessors. Her board briefings run on one stated premise β "We focus on the defensibility of your decisions, not the volume of your documentation." She spoke on responsible implementation of emerging technologies at the United Nations Science Summit, and she co-hosts The Tech Aunties podcast with Gina Rosenthal. Her writing puts advanced models against simple rule-following problems and reports exactly where they break, which is the same instinct that made her useful inside enterprise infrastructure for two decades.
Lillian Davis is a marketing consultant in Laguna Beach, California, and a founding member of the She Leads AI Society. She designs evidence-based marketing programs and measures them on outcomes rather than volume. Her nonprofit work is where she puts her own name down, listing the causes she has backed as a donor or volunteer β Coastal Roots Farm, The Ecology Center, CalEarth Institute, HomeAid Orange County, and Yoga Gives Back. Working alongside Kayoko Mitsumatsu, who founded Yoga Gives Back, she says she has "witnessed hundreds of success stories" of women and girls changing their circumstances through education and entrepreneurship. She studied at California State University, Fullerton and holds both an M.A. and an M.P.A. She describes She Leads AI as a community of women "leading with curiosity, integrity, and intention," and her consulting now centers on folding AI into marketing and business processes.

βοΈ Worth A Share
Rachel Zipsie spent 26 years building small businesses before she became one β and now she's the founder helping other small business owners stop overpaying for software they barely use.
In this episode of Empowered by AI, Michelle sits down with Rachel Zipsie, founder of Your Next Move and the Million Heart Movement, for a conversation about reinvention, letting go of old beliefs, and what it actually looks like to build AI tools for small business owners who don't have time to learn a new platform. Rachel spent nearly three decades in corporate and small-business support β including years at FTD teaching local flower shops how to run their businesses β before pivoting into founder life and, eventually, vibe-coding custom software for the small businesses she used to serve.
