Someone has been doing a deep dive on the whole agent thing. It’s quite the rabbit hole…..but I’m finally making full use of Notebook LM, which makes learning such a treat!
Today at Social Saturday we take a REALLY deep dive when Suzel Wyvill-Jones joins us to discuss the topic: AI Agents vs Sacred Cows.. Makes sense bc she wrote the book about AI agents and work culture. Feeling pretty fortunate to have such brilliant women in our midst, sharing their expertise!!
It’s a fun idea to think that our organizations run on facts and logic, but we know better (right?).
Most of the time they run on myth, lore, personal preferences of leadership, and the whole “the way we’ve always done things.”
AI agents shift that story in a very abrupt way. These systems observe how work moves through a company and reflect that movement back to you with no sentiment attached. They reveal the loops, the stalls, the handoffs that break under pressure, and the decisions that drift without ownership. All the things people have grown used to navigating in silence.
For me, that amounted to 30 years of mild-to-extreme gaslighting….which I only realized when I became a solopreneur and wondered why I wasn’t constantly CONFUSED. For once, I finally understood what’s ACTUALLY happening.
The influx of agents into our work lives will create tension – but good tension, maybe! Not because the technology is complicated, but because it threatens beliefs that have governed how people lead. Cultural norms. Stuff we do every single year. Well-worn grooves of processes that make no sense, but are held dear for whatever weird-ass reason.
AI agents make the truth harder to ignore. They make friction visible. They make the cost of slow thinking impossible to rationalize. Strong leaders will need to take a step to the side, becoming validators of decisions, not the origin points for every call.
