🍓 Pushing to Production: She Leads AI 2.0

This week's SLAI Effect falls on Juneteenth - I've been re-reading chapters of Unmasking AI: My Mission to Protect What Is Human in a World of Machines by Dr. Joy Buolamwini. This is the book that opened my eyes to algorithmic racial injustice and how I can make a difference - as an individual user, as a leader, and as a consumer. Dr. Joy reminds us of our agency, and that in this AI everything era, our agency is our most important tool.

I've also been working on the upcoming launches in She Leads AI. We launched in 2024 with a formal mission to "unite accomplished women to advance AI for global prosperity." And this is exactly what we did. We found one another, organized ourselves into a community, and took off!

As we've grown, we've gained clarity on how SLAI can do our highest and best work in the AI era. We’re building a stronger, more connected learning ecosystem for women advancing AI. We've refined our positioning. ​

Beth Lyons and Jen Schwartz Take the Helm at Social Saturday

Beth Lyons and Jen Schwartz are the new co-hosts of our free weekly gathering for all women in AI, Social Saturday. They lead engaged, thoughtful conversations and give members plenty of opportunities to learn from one another and connect.

Beth is a gifted facilitator, improv actor, co-host of The Daily AI Show and a She Leads AI Certified AI Educator and consultant.
​
Jen is an accessibility consultant, member of the She Leads AI Society, and Maven of the Written Word.
​
At tomorrow's "Signal, Not Noise" session, they'll help us deal with the AI overwhelm of information from everywhere all the time and now, faster than ever. On June 27, Beth and Jen host Maliha Khan for "Lights, Camera, Confidence"!

Pamela Oberg Introduces the Build, Launch, Scale Lab

Pamela Oberg, She Leads AI’s new Executive Director of Member Advancement, leads the Build, Launch, Scale Lab — a ten-workshop series for Society members, beginning in July. BLS is the one of the benefits of She Leads AI Society membership.

At Social Saturday last weekend, we tested the She Leads AI Authority Builder live with the community. Here's what we discovered and the new and improved tool!​

Participants added their bios, reviewed the results, and used the tool to identify what felt accurate, what needed refinement, and what parts of their expertise deserved more emphasis.

📢 She Leads AI Society Members Making an Impact

Djuana Lamb Morrison is a Talent Strategist at Lone Star College and a faculty member in the Department of Management at the University of Houston Downtown, where she has taught since 2016. With more than two decades in human resources, she holds the SPHR and CDP® credentials and was recognized as an Austin Business Journal HR Impact Award winner. Djuana works with emerging and executive leaders on leadership development, and she has been folding AI into both her teaching and her practice — completing an AI Automations and Custom GPTs cohort and helping teams get clear on what they actually mean when they say they want to build an AI agent, whether that's a chatbot, a custom GPT, or something fully agentic. A TEDx speaker and longtime volunteer with the Zonta Club of Houston, Djuana brings the same care to her students and her community as she does to the leaders she advises.

Lianna Jean Manibog is the Director of Storytelling and Human Infrastructure at Mottshire Labs in Salt Lake City, an AI strategist and writer who works where emerging technology meets communication and judgment. Her path runs through higher education — years teaching English at Utah State University and Snow College, plus a master's in English Literature from Brigham Young University — into business strategy and applied AI. She has built frameworks for AI adoption, trained teams to evaluate and use AI outputs, and helped organizations fold these tools into how they operate without losing clarity or sound judgment. Her focus stays on the human side of the shift, structuring information so people and machines can both find it. Outside her day work, Lianna is a musician and the founder of The Threadwork Collective, a nonprofit building community through art and education. She brings a teacher's patience and a writer's ear to the question of how organizations adapt well.

Erika Stanley is the founder and CEO of Mile End Digital, a branding and digital strategy agency she launched during the pandemic to give small business owners the kind of high-quality brand work that traditional agencies reserved for clients who could clear their minimums. She is also the founder of the AI Queens Society, a community where women entrepreneurs move from AI-curious to confident, and the host of the AI Queens podcast. With close to two decades in marketing, Erika now builds AI systems for women business owners that sound like them rather than like a machine — her Brand-to-Bot Blueprint helps clients reclaim more than ten hours a week without surrendering their voice. She teaches ethical, strategic AI use and has spoken on it at the AI Business World conference. Whatever the tool, Erika keeps the woman behind the brand at the center of the work.
