Today we bear a gift, as always, but we also bear phenomenal news for the She Leads AI community!!
We have to start talking about this one. Cindy Gallop is coming to speak at Social Saturday. Cindy Gallop of Make Love Not Porn and Fairness In The Feed, the petition calling on LinkedIn to disclose how its algorithm ranks posts and to audit what it does to women's reach.
She joins us September 26. She built the New York office of the advertising agency Bartle Bogle Hegarty, then left to found Make Love Not Porn. And since late last year she has been documenting what LinkedIn's algorithm does to women's reach. Last December she and a male colleague posted identical content. Hers reached 801 people. His reached 10,408. That month she launched Fairness In The Feed with Samantha Katz and Jane Evans. LinkedIn's response so far is that its systems do not use gender as a signal.
